Obituary of Egbert W. Parara

Please share a memory of Egbert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Egbert Wilsha Parara (Sid, Siddy) Egbert was born to Egbert and Winnifred Parara on August 15, 1951, in Nairne Castle, Clarendon, Jamaica. Egbert attended James Hill Primary School, St. Andrew Technical High School and Kingston College. With a passion to serve his country, Egbert joined the then newly formed S90 squad of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Harman Barracks and was the recipient of the sharp shooting award. He also worked for some time at the Elite Furniture Store. During this time, Egbert also began to pursue his musical interest by joining the Lloyd Parks and We the People band. In 1979, Egbert married the love of his life, Lillian Douglas. In 1981, he and his family emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts. In Boston, he worked at the US Gypsum for many years, moving quickly through the ranks and became a Manager. He later worked as a salesman at the Quirk Mazda car dealership where he performed exceptionally. In 1989, Egbert founded Wizard Records where he was one of the first to work with and produce legendary reggae artists such as Buju Bantan, Red Dragon and Anthony B. To further his love of music, Egbert, alongside his son Richard and nephew Paul, founded Ingenious Concepts, a promotional company that allowed various reggae artist to showcase their talents in Boston, and by extension promote Jamaica and its culture. These artists include but are not limited to Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Sean Paul, Shaggy, and Toots and the Maytals. In December 2002, he lost his beloved wife, Lillian. Although he was distraught by this loss, he persevered to care for his children. On a visit to Jamaica in 2008, Egbert was granted a second chance at love when he met Veronique Smith. Regrettably, on this visit also he became ill, suffering from a brain hemorrhage and subsequent strokes resulting in limited mobility. He was efficiently and lovingly cared for by Veronique until his death on August 18, 2021. The consummate family man, Egbert is survived by partner Veronique, his children Richard, Andrea, Erika (Jermaine), Sidonnie, Hugh, Delvia, Christopher, Stacey-Ann, Omar, Cephie-Ann (Phil), Andrew, Cadiea, Stephen, twenty-five (25) grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters Ora-May, Merline, Gloria, Juliet, Yvonne and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Egbert will be greatly missed but his footprints and legacy will remain. We will continue to cherish his memories and emulate his love, integrity and generosity. May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace with Light Perpetual Shining on Him.
