Please share a memory of Laverne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Laverne Rochelle Nelson-Roberts, 63, was born on July 31, 1959 in Boston, Ma to the late Vincent Paul, Sr. and Fay Ann Nelson. Laverne left this earthly realm to be with God, surrounded by her family and loved ones at her beautiful home on May 4, 2023.
Laverne grew up in the Ruggles Street Development. In her younger years, Laverne was an amazing athlete, student, big sister, and daughter. During her school years, she loved track & field. She was a track star and wonderful basketball player. After completing high school at English High of Boston, Ma, she enlisted in the military to serve her country. When she completed her military career, she contin- ued her path to success at various companies and businesses: such as NStar Electric, US Laboratory, ACN, and Compass Medical, just to name a few. All her coworkers and business partners acknowledged her light and gentle, but confident demeanor.
In 2005, Laverne reunited with her childhood friend Paul Roberts and they were married on September 15, 2012. They traveled extensively together and enjoyed Paris, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Maine, NY, and other exotic destinations. Laverne was a fashionable and tasteful dresser. She and Paul loved to coordinate their outfits at events, on dates, and even out of town. When she walked into a room, her presence was known and undeniable. Laverne and Paul were faithful members of Faith Urban Assembly in Dorchester, MA. They were dedicated to Christian principles. One of her favorite scriptures was John 3:16. She was a writer, motivational speaker, and an inspiration to many. She encouraged many with her daily devotional writings. If she saw a need, she would fill that need.
Laverne leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband and childhood friend Paul Roberts, her sons, Kareem Nelson, and Daryl “baby boy” Alexander, her daughter, Fay Ann “Mama” Brannon-Thompson, and her husband Deric Thompson, her only sister and loving twin Lorene “baby sis” Skinner, and her husband, Carlton Skinner, her Brothers, Vincent Nelson, Jr., Leonard Nelson, his wife Robin Nelson, last but not least, her baby brother, Duane Nelson, and his wife, Ines Nelson.
