Supported by research which has shown that cognitively challenging games and activities such as chess are an effective means of enhancing brain acuity, developing new pathways in the brain, and hindering the development of Alzheimer’s and other cognitive illnesses associated with aging, Checkmating Dementia! will facilitate greater engagement by middle-aged and elderly individuals in chess and other cognitively challenging games and activities to enable them to realize these cognitive benefits.
