Dorothy was my cousin by marriage: her uncle married my great-aunt. When I moved to Boston, she extended her home to me, and helped me adjust to living in a new city. I am so sad to hear of her passing, but I am also very happy to have known her for the past 33 years. My life is richer because of my closeness with Dorothy, my cousin, my fellow church member, and my surrogate mother. My condolences to you, Roland; I know the sadness of losing a mother. But I also know the joy that comes from a lifetime of memories. May God bless you, Rhonda and your lovely children and grandchildren.

I’m so sorry to hear of Sister Dorothy Latham’s passing. She was an awesome, talented, elegant and caring person. For many years she led the Women’s Choir at Twelfth Baptist Church. During that time, I was licensed to preach (1977) and she and the choir bought me my first robe. I still have the robe, today. I praise God for her leadership, life and legacy. I first met Dorothy in the late 1990s at Symphony Hall, and over the years got to know her well and words that come to mind when I think of her are, "kind", "classy", "elegant" and "witty".
I am very saddened by her passing and will miss her terribly, along with so many others whose lives she touched over the years.

Your Mother was an exceptional Woman of God. Her grace, beauty and love was everything that made her special to all that had an occasion to be around her or in her presence at all times. We join you in mourning the loss of Aunt Dorothy! She truly is an amazing woman and her memory will live on in our hearts. I have lots of fond memories of Aunt Dorothy, and I realized as an adult that she taught us about classiness before I even knew what that was! She was such a role model!
