Sergio was kind. You could tell that by looking at his eyes. I knew him when he was a student at UMass. He was truly a beautiful man with a beautiful soul.

Sergio was my neighbor and we met at Project Right meetings. We bonded also, when he would pass my home and have the nerve to ride his wheelchair in the street, not on the sidewalk. He would look for me and I would look-out for him when I could. No one would harm Sergio. We all loved him on Normandy Street.

Sergio’s smiling face was all many of us needed at UMass police to melt the stress of a long day away. I will greatly miss his amazing attitude and smile at UMB. We were blessed to have worked with Sergio ever since he moved into his house in Grove Hall. Sergio was active and provided leadership in making Grove Hall a safe place and more accessible to all. Sergio was active on PRI's Board of Directors and was always challenging us to do better. His vision and understanding will be missed.
