Obituary of Joanne A. Waters

Please share a memory of Joanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JoAnne Waters was born on January 29, 1940 in Roxbury Massachusetts to Evelyn and Elliot Foster. My mother was affectionately known as” JoJo or Jo’’ by family and friends. My mother was also affectionately known as “The General” by her nieces and nephews. In 1956, she met her husband Richard M. Waters, and they were married on April 19, 1963. In 1968 they received their blessing when daughter Monique came into to their lives. Married for 54 years, JoAnne and Ritchie remained loving companions. JoAnne was the second oldest of her 3 siblings. Elliot Foster Jr.(deceased), LaQue E Duren, and Rasheida Tiekka. My mother was a person who stepped to her own drum. My mother loved to write, do arts and crafts, and travel. As a young girl she would often take her own journey’s around the city of Boston, and an adult she also traveled to varies states My mother was an active member at Jubliee Christian Church in Mattapan where she served as a greeter. She truly enjoyed serving the Lord. My mother took part in guiding friends and family to the Lord. I called her the gatekeeper, one who would guide people to salvation. My mother worked for the Department of Public Works where she retired in 2002. My mom loved supporting my dad with his artwork showings. When someone would ask about his artwork, he would lovingly say talk to her “That’s the boss”! In all of this my mother was a humble woman, who never passed judgement, feisty when someone messed with her family, and her Pepsi. My mother was strong willed, God fearing women who figured life out on her own. JoAnne leaves to cherish her memories: sisters LaQue, and Rasheida, daughter Monique Goodman; grandchildren, Richard J. Waters, Deshawn C. Waters, and Quentin J. Waters; great grandchildren, Victoria Waters, Zoe Waters, Sebastian , Ezekiel Waters, and Melia Orr; her niece Shirley Williams and a hosts of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In the mist of my sorrow, I take joy knowing she will be united with my dad Richie, my grandmother Evelyn, and granddad Elliot, my uncle Bubba Elliot jr., and the rest of the gang aunt Verla, aunt Enie, aunt Ethel, and uncle Bobby. May you Rest In Paradise ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, Kindness and support shown to us during this hour of bereavement.
