My dude I will always remember our times on Abbot St, Lee School and our years together as lifeguards at the old MDC pools. Life as we all know is uncertain and no one knows when God will call us home. Even though we went in different directions our bond will always remain. May god and the angels embrace you as you move onto your next journey. Love Always

Through love, compassion, humility, and protection you changed my life.
I remember our very first conversation and the very last.
I will remember your radiant smile, your sense of humor, and your wisdom until my last day.
I thank you to infinity and beyond. Until our paths cross again Rest In Heaven My Friend ❤️

God bless you Milton for your kindness and comfort. I felt safe in your home and blessed to be so close to your sister and your family. You allowed me a great and cherished memory of spending time with you all in Martha’s Vineyard for my first ever trip there. It remains a blessed memory forever. We miss you.

To my friend my brother My life long road partner. Our days began in that basement making music and chanting our lyrics Over a libation and a good smoke we will end it the same fashion. From that basement we stepped out and across the country, our children got to experience each other’s lives and live close to each other here in California. My Brother our children are blessed and have a foothold in life and will continue to prosper In the light of Jah. In your absence we will take the young by the hand and nurture them as well as keep a hand outstretched to support the independent ones so that we all prosper in the light and in the of the Father. God is good and will now usher you on your way. Rest for you are weary, travel for you are always seeking and rest assured that your seeds will be nourished mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. A candle always burns in our home and in our hearts for you and until we meet again my brother may the Wind always be at your back, the Sun in your face and ocean at your feet. My heart is heavy but my prayers are steadfast for I have not come to grieve I have come to celebrate the graduation of my brother to head of his next class. I will see you on the other side my brother.

I called Milton Dawes Coach Milt I had known him for about 3 years and he had a great impact on my life. His compassion never went unnoticed with me or my teammates. He will be dearly missed by all he affected. Coach Milt was kindest person and most real person I have ever met. When we would go out of state for tournaments and we only had two beds in the room, on was supposed to be for Coach Hightower and the other for Coach Milt but he never used bed. He always tried to make sure we were comfortable and fed and well. He didn’t care that he would have to sleep on the floor he just made sure we were ok. If we went out to eat he would pay for all of us imagine that, about 10 boys 6’0” and up just chopping away but he would still make sure no worried about being fed. That was the kind man he was. The best and I think the most important aspect of Milton Dawes was he never sugarcoatted anything. He would tell you what most people were scared or afraid to tell you. He treated us kids on the team as his own sons. He would be on us and give us that tough love cause he knew we could be better. My most fond memory with Coach Milt was at a basketball camp last year in Philly. We had just come from Alabama and Indiana and had been traveling for atleast 2 weeks at that point just straight basketball and working out. I was tired when the camp started and I was not doing my best going through the motions with carelessness. But both Coach Hightower and Coach Milt were there watching me. They both weren’t happy with my performance. But I remember before they left to go back to Boston, Coach Milt came over to me privately and told me how I had done too much to get to that point and how Coach Hightower had put too much effort into me to just bs my way through this camp. He talked to me like his son telling me you could do so much better than what you are showing. And at the end of the camp I was one of the all-stars at the camp and I owe it all to Coach Milt. I loved that man and I know all my teammates loved him. He will be missed dearly. Rest in Paradise!!

We would like to extend a heartfelt prayer to all the members of the Dawes Family, during this most difficult and transitional time. We light this candle to pay tribute to a life ‘passed and a legacy revealed.
Keeping a light burning is our form of remembrance; signifying that his memory still lives on and burns bright. We pray that this memorial candle: celebrates the life of your loved one, brings peace and comfort to your family and loved ones, and eases some of the pain of your loss. We hope that your support system will be revealed; as you read the words of those who post their LOVE, send their cards & flowers or even their embrace while they pay their respect.
Being now like family, we hope you will see our genuine hearts and will understand that we are here; to listen & keep things confidential, to provide guidance & direct you to the appropriate resources to maneuver through the storm.
