Obituary of Gladys Euter
Please share a memory of Gladys to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
They say life is not about the
number of breaths you take,
but it’s the moments that
take your breath away.
On this day we proud to say that
Gladys had both of these in her
85 years of existence.
Gladys Euter was born on May 24, 1935, in Preston Bonnie Gate, St Mary. She was the 4th child of 12 for the Union of Alfred and Renella Euter.
Gladys immigrated to Kingston for a better opportunity, where she provided home care for Mr. Chang and his family, owner of a Tobacco Factory. She was later employed as a supervisor of Combine Tobacco Factory, where she worked for many, many years until retirement.
In 1995 she acquired her home at 101 West Potterdale Place, Cumberland, Jamaica, there she resided with her two sons Errol and Patrick and their families.
In 1998 she started traveling to the US to visit her son Errol and his family and eventually migrated to Milton, Massachusetts to assist with the care of her youngest gran, Erisha. She lived there until her transition to glory on July 11, 2020.
Gladys was a member of Portmore Church of Christ in Jamaica. When she migrated to Milton, she became a member of Family Life Fellowship Church in Hyde Park, Massachusetts.
Gladys was someone who truly enjoyed life. She enjoyed dancing, telling stories - “true stories,” big boy stories and going on trips.
Gladys was very active in church, she went on missions outreach, local and aboard, and helped feed the homeless. She also vacationed in Mexico and Canada.
Gladys loved shopping and she was a sharp dresser. She loved her family and always bragged about her grandkids.
She always had our back and whenever we did something “wrong” she would say “mi ago tell u mada,” but she never did.
Gladys’ family is deeply grieved by the loss of one of the pillars of the family. We are also thankful for the chance to have had her in our lives. After all, not too many people have had the privilege of knowing someone as remarkable as her. We may have lost her physically, but we firmly believe as she also did that someday Jesus Christ our savior will reunite us again.
As we eagerly wait for that day, her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memory her three sons Everton of St. Mary, Jamaica, Errol (Vivienne) of Milton, MA and Patrick (Audrey), St. Catherine, Jamaica.
Gladys also leaves her siblings Junie, Joyce, Daisy, Pauline, Ita, Percy, Gladys and Hillman. She was preceded in death by her siblings Icylin, Grace, Elvie and Stanford. She also leaves to cherish her memory her adopted daughter Maxine, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Farewell Our Beloved,
You have reached your final destination.
You have fought a good fight,
you have finished your course,
you have kept the faith:
henceforth there is laid up for you a
crown of righteousness.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
We love you
and
We will surely miss you, Forever.
