Wow. So sad to hear. My deep condolences to the Thomas Family. Only knew Fern for a few years in the mid/late '70s. Will always remember the kindness and friendship she and Dawn shared with me when I moved to NYC. Her radiant smile, amazing heart and strength to overcome must be celebrated.

We would like to extend a heartfelt prayer to all the members of the Thomas/Minor Family, during this most difficult and transitional time. We light this candle to pay tribute to a life ‘passed and a legacy revealed.
Keeping a light burning is our form of remembrance; signifying that her memory still lives on and burns bright. We pray that this memorial candle: celebrates the life of your loved one, brings peace and comfort to your family and loved ones, and eases some of the pain of your loss. We hope that your support system will be revealed; as you read the words of those who post their LOVE, send their cards & flowers or even their embrace while they pay their respect.
Being now like family, we hope you will see our genuine hearts and will understand that we are here; to listen & keep things confidential, to provide guidance & direct you to the appropriate resources to maneuver through the storm.

Fern has been in my life over twenty years... sometimes close, sometimes far, but always, Always in. And she always will be...her presence had such Presence, and she leaves her unique and statuary imprint on those of us
lucky enough to have known her.
I never met her children but have heard consistent and wonderful things about them through her many friends in Oak Bluffs.
Fern, you are missed.

I haven't seen Fern or the Thomas family in over 40 years, but memories of her are vivid and happy. Our families shared many wonderful years together, living nearby in Brooklyn and enjoying summers in Oak Bluffs and Shenango. My special memories of Fern include hanging with her and "cool college kids" on a visit to Boston before I also moved there for school. Also particularly memorable is our evening together when Fern kept me company at our house while our folks were partying on Lincoln Place. She had heard I was uncomfortable being home alone. Truly, Fern was a very special person. I'll always remember her and smile.
Elaine, Guy, Tobi, and Fern's children & grands - I'm thinking of you now as I have over the years, wishing you strength as you grieve.
With love,

My condolences to Fern's mother, children and grandchildren. I met Fern as a student at NU. I have so many memories of Fern. She and Beverly Gamble were my hanging out party buddies in college. Fern was full of life, smart, kind and fun. I don't remember many N.U. students, however Fern stands out and above all the rest. I know that she'll be truly missed because she was always present wherever she went. May she rest in peace!

There are no words to describe Fern, a woman of heart, soul, great intelligence and insight, and full of life, joy and laughter, in spite of her many struggles. Fern and daughters Kia and Hailee helped raise my daughter, and became like family to us. We always felt better when Fern was around. I loved her deeply, and miss her sorely. I wish I could have done more for her.
