Obituary of Nydia I Rodriguez Ortiz

Nydia Ivette Rodriguez Ortiz, departed her loving family unexpectedly on Monday November 9, 2020.
Nydia was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on August 6, 1954 to Mrs. Lydia Ortiz and Mr. Luis Bergne Rodriguez Sanchez.
Nydia attended the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work in 1980 and soon after became a school social worker at the Guaynabo School District. In 1983 she moved to the Bronx, New York City for a period of time, until1989 when she decided to move to Boston, MA and raise her children. In 1995 she became employed as a School Secretary at the Mary E Curley Middle School, in Jamaica Plain MA. until 2000. Her favorite hobbies included BINGO, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Nydia is survived by her children; Marck Martinez, Wilnydia Martinez and Jessica Betancourt; grandchildren: Alex Hidalgo, Dana Martinez, Jaylanie Hidalgo, Angelina Martinez, Annalise Johnson; brother; Luis Rodriguez, sister; Aurea Rodriguez; and father of her two eldest children William Martinez. She is predeceased by her father Luis Rodriguez, mother Lydia Rodriguez, and dearly beloved aunt who was like a second mother Miguelina Rodriguez. Nydia's greatest love was her children, but moreso, she had an immense love and devotion for her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. There are many lives that she has touched and she will be greatly missed and mourned by extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Legacy will be held at the Floyd A Williams Funeral Home on Friday November 20, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.
