Kevin, Janet & Alison,
My prayers, love and heart go out to you. I have so many memories of us growing up and Mrs. Ashley was my second mom. Will miss her laughter, smile and will always have a special place in my heart. Our moms were classy ladies and they are back together again!

Dear Kevin, Janet, Alison and Teddy,
This is a difficult loss and was deeply saddened to hear of Inez's transition. There are no words that can begin to capture the magnitude of your loss. I am so sorry that you and your family are going through this challenge. I have known Sista all of my life--she and Della were there when I came home from the hospital--I was three DAYS old and they were my first new friends. We lived in the same building--1 Trotter Court.
Sista was an amazing woman, "powerhouse" who changed lives for the better--what a difference she made in changing the future of education for Boston's Black students from which the METCO program was created by her and Ellen Jackson.
When I left Boston and returned for visits, I would always pay homage to Sista, visit, shop and gossip. Sista gave me my sense of style but, more importantly, introduced me to "wigs" and we all know how much they are part of me. I would enjoy most shopping for her at Filene's when she was no longer able to deal with the crowds and our outings with Mother Ida Mae up to Maine and/or down to the Cape for lunch. But our best secret was going to Bob, The Chef, for her "chitterlings," which she made swear never to tell the family. I could go on and on but I want you to know that Inez always had time and patience for me and the rest of her village; she could never do enough to make our world a better place. Inez was one of the kindest, most generous person I have ever known, and her compassion continues to shine on through you children. Sista was truly a child of God. She loved God, her family, and Ebenezer. Now Sista is in a better place without pain, but more importantly wearing the most stylish wings. I will miss her.
Love,
Laraine

Mrs. Ashley it was a pleasure knowing you all of my 55 years. You were so sweet and principled! Who knew you would be gone on my birthday. You raised your daughters but loved your lil boy Kevin who you always took a pc of pie or lollipop for. We joked about Kevin and lollipops from you.
My heart is broken and I mourn with her family . I wear a butterfly to honor her today. You grew up in EBC with my dad and you are my golden girl. Peace and Blessings,
Love, Crystal Christmas-Thompson

My sincere condolences go out to the Ashley & Rise family. “ Sister Rose” as she was affectionately called by family and close friends. I grew up with the entire Rise family in the Lenox St. Projects as it was referred to back in the day. I felt I was always watched out for by Sister Rose and her siblings. I grew up feeling as if I was an extension of that family and as an I matured got to know the Ashley family pretty well. Inez always had encouraging words and love for those around her and in her reach. I felt the love from her and will always keep that in my heart. Love Anita Roberts Raynor

Mrs. Ashly will most definitely be thoroughly missed, She has been an intricate part of our lives since we became neighbors. She became a mother, a friend, & a confidant. She became an instant grandmother to my son who loved himself some Mrs Ashly. Its very rare nowadays in todays climate to befriend your neighbors but with Mrs Ashly it would have been virtually impossible to bypass such a gem. She had such an infectious spirit, and a heart of gold. If ever you needed a good laugh or for someone to lift your spirits all you needed to do is spend 5mins with Mrs Ashly listen to some of her stories and how animated she was when she told them and you were automatically in better spirits. In true Mrs Ashly fashion she fought a great fight, but the good Lord was ready for his Angel again. Mrs Ashly we are truly blessed for having the pleasure of getting to know and love you, you can now rest in heavenly peace. Rest easy knowing that you left your mark behind and although there will never be another you many will try their best to emulate the person you were, we can only hope to be half the woman that you were. Our deepest condolences to the family both immediate and extended that she has left behind.

My deepest condolences for Mrs. .Ashley's family. I was certainly blessed by her presence and having her as my neighbor.
We'd have our neighborly chats, and make each other laugh. We watched out for each other and our other neighbors. Mrs. Ashley always asked about my daughter, mother and grandmother, and later on my sister. Mrs. Ashley was a sharp, smart, God-loving, beautiful woman. I wish I had more time to have a conversation with her, but of course one more wouldn't be enough. I knew about her love of butterflies she shared with her husband. I'd hear about how strict her mother was (they could never sleep over anyone's house as kids}, I heard how it was for her working the 3rd shift, as a working parent, as I struggled to work mine. (yeah-no more!) As a parent, I'd hear her worries about her children, regardless of how old and capable they were, just because they were her children. We'd laugh and scream about the craziness of the world at large. I can hear her voice so clearly, "Okay," she would say affirmingly. Mrs. Ashley was a lady of good taste and style, and I often told her, when I'd see her, even if she was in lounge wear, she looked GOOD! I was blessed to have been able to give her some flowers before she left us. Mrs. Ashley so appreciated her children and how Kevin and Janice sacrificed on her behalf. You did it without blinking an eye and your efforts made all the difference- Well Done. I am so grateful our paths crossed.

Mrs. Ashley will be missed for sure. I called her Mother Inez, as that's how I felt about her. Whenever she would come to Atlanta we always had laughs as we were a dynamo team playing bid-whist together. I'll miss your wit and laughter. You are now living without the body, but your spirit of joy will always be remembered! Love, the other one :)

My memories of Mrs. Ashley are deeply meaningful rather than long. I met Ms. Ashley through her daughter Janet in 2012. She immediately showed me her hearty laugh and fiery spirit. By our second encounter, she made me feel I was a member of her family by her straightforward dissemination of love and caring. I am a witness to the rich quality of life Mrs. Ashley offered, making me richer and grateful for her love.

My Dear Inez
A.K.A (Mama) I have learned a lot from you; during your time here with me in addition to being a colleague I am so lucky that we worked together for many years before your retirement. We had some good times together providing services for our community children who lived in the various areas of the communities; Always making sure our stat sheets were completed and the children had all of their medical needs met. You were a tough cookie; by your next site visit; You best believe it better be all completed. But it was so much more; You knew a lot of my family members my Joey along with my mother, grandmother and my cousin.
I have so much gratitude to have known you for so many years; I’ve enjoyed coming to visit for a short time with you, talking about those good old days at Head Start. But now the train has come to the station, you have got on board.
Rest in Peace,
Much Love
Adrienne & Joey

We would like to extend a heartfelt prayer to all the members of the Ashley Family, during this most difficult and transitional time. We light this candle to pay tribute to a life ‘passed and a legacy revealed.
Keeping a light burning is our form of remembrance; signifying that her memory still lives on and burns bright. We pray that this memorial candle: celebrates the life of your loved one, brings peace and comfort to your family and loved ones, and eases some of the pain of your loss.
We hope that your support system will be revealed; as you read the words of those who post their LOVE, send their cards & flowers or even their embrace while they pay their respects.
Being now like family, we hope you will see our genuine hearts and will understand that we are here; to listen & keep things confidential, to provide guidance & direct you to the appropriate resources to maneuver through the storm.
Blessings to All.
