Obituary of Flora Mae Brown

Please share a memory of Flora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Flora Mae Brown was born in Camden, Alabama on July 4, 1922 to the late Will Hill and the late Lula Hill McDaniel. She received her primary education through the Camden Alabama school system. She met and married the late Weston Brown at a very young age and from this union they had 7 children. Their first child, Eunice, passed away as an infant. Flora accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was baptized at the New Hope Baptist Church #2 in Camden, Alabama. She worked faithfully by her husband's side as a Deaconess for many years. She was a member of the choir, devoted Sunday School teacher and more. She devoted herself spiritually and financially to the works of the Lord. Flora worked for many years at the J. Paul Jones Hospital assisting the nurses. She was a strong and faithful member of the "Pride of Alabama O.E.S #678 Society" for many years. She also enjoyed fellowship with her family at family reunions and cookouts. Her favorite past time was fishing. She was a strong woman. After 54 years of marriage a heavenly angel took her husband by the hand and ushered him into eternal rest at age 71. Over the years we have watched her endure many heartaches: loss of her mother, four sisters; Ethel Mae Brown, Ruby T. Powe, Sarah Ann Woods, Martha Ann Hill. She lived through many generations including her very own 4th generation. She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters: Claudia Sullivan of Charlotte, NC, Flora B. (Billy) Tucker of Boston, Daisy L. Cochran of New Castle, DE, Juliet Brown of Boston, MA; two sons, David J. (Roberta) Brown and Willie J (Carol) Brown of Camden, AL. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly. Poem "I have done my work, I have sung my song; I have prayed my prayer, I have done some wrong. I have served my God, now I shall go where I belong… For the Lord has willed it so."
