Obituary for Birdlyn Joyce McClue (Gregory) Birdlyn Joyce McClue (Gregory) was born on December 23rd 1924, and was the daughter of Eunice Louise and Wilfred Arlington Gregory of Green Pond, Manchester, Jamaica W.I. Birdlyn had sixteen (16) siblings: Harrold, Lyn (Rose), Robert (Bob), Lassells, Ivan, Inez, Eva, Ruby, Dudley, Harry, Ashley, Joseph, Tom (Buzz), Barnett and twin babies. Birdlyn was the second child and eldest daughter for her mother Eunice, and so became her mother’s greatest helper in caring for her siblings. Birdlyn attended Patrick Town Moravian Church and School in the Parish of Manchester, Jamaica W.I. She then moved to Kingston where she worked, got married, started her family and had several small successful businesses in Spanish Town. One of her outstanding businesses included teaching handicraft/needlework (crochet). Her goal was to help others by obtaining this skill so that they were able to improve their quality of life by selling their own handcrafted items. Birdlyn was the loving wife of Austin McClue whom she married on May 30th , 1951. She was the mother of seven (7) children: Leroy, Homar, Carol, Jacqueline, Leona, Otis, and Erhard and stepmother to Winston (Billy) and Louis (Sonny). She has sixteen (16) grandchildren, eleven (11) great-grandchildren, four (4) great-great-grandchildren, and one (1) great-great-great-grandchild. Birdlyn was a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and a valued friend to many people. At the age of 60 she then migrated to the United States with her children where she reestablished a new life. She settled in Boston, Massachusetts and worked as a caregiver for the elderly for many years. She then purchased her home where she lived for 30 years until she passed. Birdlyn was a woman of faith who was a member of St. Jago De la Vega Anglican Church in Spanish Town, Jamaica and the Parish of All Saints Church in Ashmont, Massachusetts. Birdlyn has left an everlasting impact on everyone who she has encountered through her wisdom, spirituality, faith, encouragement, and positive energy.
