Obituary of Marthe Simon

Please share a memory of Marthe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Psalm 23:6: “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord.” Marthe Simon was born on May 25, 1932, in Cerca-Cavajal, Haiti. She was the daughter of the late Moiyemise Simon and Saintilia Santil-Simon. Marthe was the mother to two beautiful daughters, Ginette and her beloved Carline who predeceased her on March 22, 2002. Marthe, who was tenderly known as “Matant Marthe”, grew up in Haiti for the majority of her life. She was the matriarch of her family, who helped raise and supported many members of her family, as well as strangers alike. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning for her loved ones, and took pride in catering to others. Marthe was a creative woman who also enjoyed sewing, and later turned into a merchandiser who sold fabric, she was known as a fierce and savvy businesswoman. She was a loving, giving woman, who would do anything and everything to help anyone. She would literally give the shirt off her back if she needed to, feed the hungry, and shelter the homeless. She was a mother to many. As petite as she was, standing in at 5ft, Marthe had the will and heart of a giant. She was not to be messed with. Her presence commanded respect when she walked in a room. A warrior until her very last breath. Most importantly, she loved and was loved. Above all else, Marthe loved the Lord, and he was the center of her life. Marthe’s entire life was not only dedicated to serving others, but serving the Lord. For as long as we could remember, she was a woman of faith, and a prayer warrior. She was a devoted Baptist Christian until her last breath. On September 22, 2001, Matant Marthe emigrated to the United States, settling in Boston, MA with her last living daughter Ginette, her son in-law Robersanne, her grand-children Nelly, Danielle, and Jonathan, and her 1yr old great grand-daughter, Trinity. She spent her latter days being taken care of, yet she refused to sit still, and did what she loved to do, and took care of everyone else around her. Most notably, she helped raise her great-granddaughter,Trinity, who happens to be her last, and final family member she raised. Continuing with her faith here in the States, Marthe was a member of Bethlehem Haitian Baptist Church in Dorchester, where her son-in law presides as the pastor. She was a faithful member of the Group Damme Choir. Matant Marthe’s remaining years will be remembered by her family, in Boston, New York, Georgia, Canada, Haiti, and all near and far. Her family had the privilege to love and cherish her, care for her, nurture her, and enjoy all of who she was. Matant Marthe was surrounded by her loved ones when she peacefully took her final breath. We know she is at peace and is with the Lord. She will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts, and memories forever more. She is Predeceased by: Her parents, Moiyemise Simon and Saintilia Santil-Simon, her sisters Mrs Jean Jonis, and Mrs Francois Belval, and her youngest daughter Carline Dor-Daniel. She is Survived by: Her brother Lucner Simon, her daughter Ginette Simon and son-in law Robersane Simon, her Grandchildren; Nelly Simon, Danielle Simon, and Jonathan Simon Her Great-Grandchildren; Trinity Simon, Kaden Simon, Ariyah Simon, Her Surrogate Children: Ganol Joel Simon, Jude Simon, Dina Simon, Joel Simon, Fernande Simon, Lyvie Pierre and countless others whose lives she touched.
