Obituary of Lukel J Mullings
Lukel J. Mullings, fondly known as Luke or Lukie, was born on September 18, 1939 in the parish of St. Elizabeth, District of Jointwood, Jamaica, to the Late Vida Morgan Mullings and Eustance Mullings. Luke was the 8th child of 12, he was raised in the Jointwood Seventh Day Adventist Church and got baptized at the age of 12. Luke attended the Elderside Seventh Day Adventist School. After leaving St. Elizabeth he moved to the district of St. Mary. Then he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland before coming to Boston, MA.
Luke worked numerous jobs, until he graduated as a carpenter of Local 67. Luke’s hard work can be seen from many high structures, the Ted Williams Tunnel and ironically the newest cancer research center of Boston, until his retirement of 45 plus years.
Luke achieved many goals becoming a US Citizen, some real estate and obtaining his home improvement business license as “Mr. Fix It”
Luke also was one of the original founding member and builder of the Caribbean Cultural Center (3CCC).
Luke enjoyed cricket, dominos, cards and going to the casino. But everyone who knew Luke knew his passion was W.W.F wrestling and please don’t tell him it’s not real.. He would suck those teeth and climb in the ring with you. Luke perhaps to some was small in stature, low deep voice but very soft spoken, but he was larger than life in generosity, kindness and the willingness to help any hour of the day or night, whether to family, friend or neighbor. But most of all Luke loved his family and the family gatherings. As he called the family Feud, cause always a game to be played, a good joke and a laugh.
Luke leaves to cherish him then, now and forever, wife Doreen Moore-Mullings; children: Skidmore (Jimmy) and wife Gene, Patrick, and wife Glenora (Glen), Geneika (Nikki) and Chris, Darnell, Troy and wife Deandra (Dee), Sean and Tyrisha, his special love for Joanne and Tyrone, 16 grandchildren, always asking Papa Luke, ready for our cappacchino” 7-great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, sister in laws and brother in laws, a host of nieces and nephews.
Doreen and the children have being constantly
sharing about how he will be truly missed,
but Luke is at peace, he always spoke throughout life of
GOING HOME.
So he is now at
HOME,
preparing a place for them and it will be a mighty fine place because
“Mr. Fix-It”is building it with love.
