Obituary of Joana Goncalves De Barros Fonseca

Joana Goncalves De Barros Fonseca better known as Vovo, 93, of Boston, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 4, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in Praia, Cape Verde, She was the daughter of the late Anibal De Barros and Rosa Goncalves. In 1986, Vovo embarked on an incredible journey to start a new life in the United States. She moved to Boston, Massachusetts, once settled, she began her work in helping move all her 11 children to the United States to give them a better life and endless opportunities. This was by far one of her proudest accomplishments. Her most important role of her life was motherhood. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were her life. A natural caregiver, she provided childcare to countless children both within and outside her family in Boston, Ma and Pawtucket, RI. She was the wife of the late Manuel Fonseca. She is survived by her Loving daughter Teresa De Barros Pina Barbosa, her son Domingos Barros, her son Manuel Lobo Depina, her beloved daughter Natalia Varela whom has joined her in heaven, her daughter Antonia Goncalves Barros Fonseca, her son Lucindo Goncalves Barros Fonseca, her son Anibal Goncalves Barros Fonseca, her daughter Maria Goncalves Barros Fonseca, her son Manuel Socorro Goncalves Barros Fonseca, her daughter Maria Augusta Goncalves Barros Fonseca, and her son Lucindo  “Luis” Goncalves Barros Fonseca.  She is also survived by 62 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Who all love and miss her dearly. She will be remembered for being the best coladeira, always being a funny, caring, and loving person who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She loved to dance, tell jokes and be around family. Her great sense of humor and positivity will greatly be missed. Nasceu na Praia, Cabo Verde, era filha do falecido Anibal De Barros e Rosa Gonçalves. Em 1986, Vovo embarcou em uma jornada incrível para começar uma nova vida nos Estados Unidos. Ela se mudou para Boston, Massachusetts, uma vez estabelecida, ela começou seu trabalho ajudando a mover todos os seus 11 filhos para os Estados Unidos para dar-lhes uma vida melhor e oportunidades infinitas. Esta foi de longe uma de suas realizações de maior orgulho. O papel mais importante de sua vida foi a maternidade. Seus filhos, netos, bisnetos e bisnetos eram sua vida. Cuidadora natural, ela cuidou de crianças para inúmeras crianças dentro e fora de sua família em Boston, Ma e Pawtucket, RI. Ela era a esposa do falecido Manuel Fonseca. Ela deixa sua amada filha Teresa De Barros Pina Barbosa, seu filho Domingos Barros, seu filho Manuel Lobo Depina, sua amada filha Natalia Varela que se juntou a ela no céu, sua filha Antonia Gonçalves Barros Fonseca, seu filho Lucindo Gonçalves Barros Fonseca, seu filho Anibal Gonçalves Barros Fonseca, sua filha Maria Gonçalves Barros Fonseca, seu filho Manuel Socorro Gonçalves Barros Fonseca, sua filha Maria Augusta Gonçalves Barros Fonseca e seu filho Lucindo “Luís” Gonçalves Barros Fonseca. Ela também deixou 62 netos, 102 bisnetos e 13 bisnetos. Quem todos amam e sentem muito a falta dela. Ela será lembrada por ser a melhor coladeira, sempre sendo uma pessoa divertida, atenciosa e carinhosa, sempre disposta a dar uma mãozinha a quem precisa. Ela adorava dançar, contar piadas e estar com a família. Seu grande senso de humor e positividade farão muita falta.
