Obituary of Roy Lee Cannie

Roy Lee Cannie, 79, of Boston, MA, died at Seasons Hospice on August 14, 2021. Roy was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 24, 1941 to Rachel (Smith) Cannie and Robert Cannie. In 1957, Roy moved to Boston, Massachusetts and in 1967, he met Sharon Reed, whom he later married. Sharon and Roy raised three children together.
Roy worked as a Maintenance Technician for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and retired in 2006, after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed bike riding and could be found many weekends with his family, barbecuing and bike riding at Franklin Park. He was also an avid listener of music, especially Jazz.
Roy is preceded in death by his mother, Rachel; his father, Robert, Sr.; his brothers, Robert, Jr. and Henry; and his sister, Kathleen. Roy is survived by his wife, Sharon; his three children, Tammy (Manny) Kisha, and Nadine (Yvens); his five grandchildren, Raymond, Manny, Jr., Eden, Noah, and Leah; his three sisters, Hattie, Sarah, and Yvonne; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
