Obituary of Sheldon H. M Duporte

Please share a memory of Sheldon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sheldon Hasely-Marc Duporte was born in Monserrat BWI on May 10, 1971 to Sylvia Veronica Barzey and Earl Brewster. At the tender age of 7, the family relocated to St. Croix, USVI where he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Attis Duporte, Sr. Sheldon grew up on the eastside of St. Croix (Golden Rock and Harbor View Apartments). He attended Juanita Garden Elementary School, Elena Christian Junior High School and Central High School where he was active in many sports. His favorite was basketball. He is known for always having the latest shoes from sport to casual because he had a love for fashion which began at an early age. So much so, his sibling lovingly recalls Sheldon getting into trouble for wearing Dad’s clothes without permission. In 1989, after devastating Hurricane Hugo, Sheldon relocated to Boston. He lived with his brother Ashley where he attended and graduated from West Roxbury High School in 1990. It was at West Roxbury High School that he met the love of his life. On June 13,2007 he married Thylia Adams. Four children came from their union. Family was important to him so he made sure to include his oldest three daughters in his daily life. As a husband he was a loyal friend, protector, and a provider. He took his role as a father seriously and knew how important it was for him to be available to care for his children in every way. His goal was to make sure his children love and respect themselves, each other, and others around them. He recognized the needs of each child individually and gave of himself to become the encourager and supporter each one needed him to be. He spoke proudly of each child because they are proof and evidence of his commitment to change the world by loving them without limits. Sheldon worked in numerous professions from warehouse, construction, butcher and landscaping where he was employed when he departed. He was able to adapt in every situation. It did not matter where you where from or who you were, if Sheldon met you he would remember you every time he saw you. If you never had a big brother, father or just a good friend and you met Sheldon, you had a great soul that would comfort you in your time of need. The impact of his death is felt not only by family but by everyone that knew him. Sheldon will enter into eternal life greeted by: his Mother, Sylvia Veronica Barzey; Father-in-Law, Sims Sumpter, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Thylia Duporte; Children, Maurissa, Tadazsha, Shanaya, Tyzaire, Symaya, Tristan, and Trinity; Father, Earl Brewster (Elaine); Stepfather, Attis Duporte, Sr.; Siblings, Sister, Joanne Brewster; Brothers, Jude Brewster, Jason Brewster, Kenroy “Artwell” Barzey, Ashley Barzey (Joanne), Kwame Awudo (Angela), and Attis Duporte, Jr. (Anna-Maria); Mother-In-Law, Alma Clementina Adams; Brothers-in-Law, George Adams (Christiana), Brionn Adams, and Lamont Berry. Sheldon also leaves a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends who love him dearly. He touched many lives and will be missed by his family and friends.
