Obituary of Henrietta Henderson

Please share a memory of Henrietta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With honor and respect, we take a moment to celebrate the life of an incredible woman, who prided herself on spreading wisdom, guidance, and unrestricted love. A woman who often sacrificed happiness in her own life so that others could have a greater one. Our beloved Henrietta Henderson, born Henrietta Jenkins on August 15, 1929, passed from this existence into eternal life on August 30, 2021, at the age of 92.   Henrietta was born in Okeechobee, FL, to parents Mildred Stewart “Jenkins” and Eddy Jenkins who proceeded her in death. She was raised by her older sister, Georgella Jenkins. She met and married John L. Henderson on June 11, 1949. Once married, she was happily adopted into her new family. In 1952, John came to Boston to lay the foundation for his new family, which included Wanda and they were soon blessed with another daughter, Linda. Much later, our family welcomed another daughter, Gwendolyn. She was blessed with four grandchildren. Her first grandsons Corey and later Christopher Jackson, as well as Chantel Saunders and Jamie Henderson, who she lovingly raised. She also assisted in the rearing of her great grandchildren, Everett and London Saunders. Needless to say, she was always busy, but never too busy to keep her family grounded with God. John was her life partner and co-anchor for 73 years.   Henrietta was a significant person to so many and the loss of her physical presence is undoubtably difficult to express or define. But her grace, her examples of strength, knowledge of God’s Word, and her understanding of life will live on like a legacy of love that is infinite. Though her loss is a wound that will never quite heal, we can celebrate knowing she rests peacefully in His arms, and we will meet again. Gone from us, but never forgotten, our loving wife, sister-in law, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and Prayer Warrior, you will forever be missed.   Our “Nana” was an active member of New Covenant and later Jubilee Church, as well as a devote member of the Mother’s Prayer Garden. The family would like to take this time to thank all of you who have offered yourselves by telephone, email, text, and prayer. You have reminded us that we are not alone. We thank God as well as you for your support. Although you cannot hear her voice or see her smile anymore she walks beside us still just as she did before. She listens to our stories She wipes away our tears. She wraps her arms around us And she understands our fears. It’s just she isn’t visible to see with Human eye, but talk to her in Silence and her spirit will reply. You’ll feel the love she has for you- You’ll hear her in your heart. She’s left her human body but Your souls will never part.
