Obituary of Gwendolyn Elaine Fenty

Please share a memory of Gwendolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gwendolyn Elaine Fenty was born on February 29, 1936 in St. Michael, Barbados to Enid Fenty and Elenza Bowen. She worked in several capacities until she immigrated to Boston in 1972. While living in Boston she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at several nursing homes until her retirement. Gwen as she was affectionately known loved to shop and travel and did so quite frequently in her early years. She enjoyed shopping at Xmas time when she would spend hours in the mall looking for gifts for her grandchildren only to return home when the stores closed for the night. She loved to go on shopping trips to New York as well as visiting Canada and her homeland Barbados. Gwen also had a great appreciation for music especially Caribbean music. Over the years she attended many concerts, functions and festivals in Boston and the surrounding areas. Gwen was a caring and giving person and always assisted her family and friends especially those in Barbados. She quietly lived her life but did so very much on her own her terms up until the very end. She was preceded in death by her daughter Marlene Fenty-Scotland and is survived by husband Kenneth Herbert, children - Coral (Richard)Vonhipple (England), Leroy (Rudelle) Fenty, Richard Fenty, Wendy Fenty and David (Shauna) Fenty. Sister-in-law Myrtle Wood. Grand children - Dionne and Jai Vonhipple (England), Jessica, Darren, David Jr., Jada, Olivia, Emmanuel, Elijah, Lia and Lionel Fenty.
