Obituary of Juan A. Lopez
Please share a memory of Juan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Juan A. Lopez passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021, due to health complications at the age of 73. He is survived by his five children, Rosemary Mejia, Juan R. Lopez, Yajaira Casserly, Raphael Lopez, Jeremy Lopez, and their spouses. Eight grandchildren: Fabian, Esther, Xavier, Sadida, Alexa, Eva Rose, Isaiah, Elijah, and five great-grandchildren.
Juan Lopez was born in the Dominican Republic on January 3, 1948. He was the oldest of two; his sister Dora lives in New York with her two children.
Juan loved all his kids and grandchildren and never let his illnesses get in the way of having fun with them. Juan also had a funny nickname for all his kids. He loved to fish any time he had a chance, whether on a lake or a boat. Juan was a jokester and always played pranks on the kids, especially on his ex-wife Melani Tejeda, his second wife, and mother of four of his five children. He had a great sense of humor and always made you smile; even if you tried to be mad at him, you couldn’t. He would give a slight smirk, and everything would be fine. Juan had a way of making friends anywhere and would invite you to his home for dinner because he loved to cook. He loved spending time with the family during the holidays, especially the Fourth of July when we all would have a cookout and watch the fireworks.
Juan always encouraged his kids to look out for each other and their mother. He called his kids every day to see how they were and their families. He called Melani every day to make sure she ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There wasn’t a day that went by where they didn’t hear from him.
Even now, after his passing, Juan leaves a mark with the love of his family and friends to be shared with all.
