Obituary of Thelma Edith Jackson
Please share a memory of Thelma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thelma Edith Washington Jackson affectionally known as “Nan”, and “Gransie” was born on May 23, 1936, in Boston, MA to the late Raymond & Thelma Tucker Washington. Thelma grew up in Boston’s South End and graduated from Girl’s High School. Thelma met and married the love of her life the late Ledrue Jackson and from that union two children were born Diana Jackson and the late Ledrue Jackson.
As Thelma was raising her children she decided to go back to school and further her educational career as a nutritionist. For more than thirty years she provided nutrition for the youth and senior programs at the Harriet Tubman House, and throughout the community. Thelma was a very giving person who helped people on many levels not just nutritionally, she helped them spiritually, mentally, lovingly, and even financially. She was a true supporter for St Jude’s Hospital for children.
Thelma love to travel and loved traveling with her daughter Diana. Together they traveled to Jamaica, Antiqua, Barbados, Nassau, Aruba, Las Vegas, just to name a few. As they traveled around the world together mother and daughter, they shared so many funny stories and wonderful moments and memories. Thelma loved a good joke and was always filled with fun and laughter.
One of Thelma’s joys in life was the love she had for family and especially her grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed family cookouts, a good party, dancing, eating out, the casino and doing the pony.
Thelma was loved by so many people for the loving, caring heart that she had and her kind and thoughtful ways.
On Monday December 27, 2021, God called Thelma Edith Washington Jackson home from labor to reward.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory daughter Diana Jackson, grand children Latasha, Courtney, Mekisha, Ledrue, and Anthony, great grandchildren Mekiyah, Terrance, and Trinity, her BFF Patrice (Bernice), and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
Thelma will be deeply missed but certainly not forgotten. Thank you, God, for allowing us to have all the time with her as you did.
