Obituary of Leonard Brandon

Leonard Brandon (Lenny) was born on February 20, 1966, to the late Gertrude Douglas and Joseph Link. He was raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts, where he attended elementary, middle, and high school with his three siblings and close friends; they were called the Columbia Road Posse. He loved the New York Yankees in honor of his New York family. At the age of three, he developed a love of music. He also enjoyed traveling with his mother to Disney World and other destinations. The first song in his memory was "Band of Gold" by Freda Payne. He grew up in a family that always listened to music, and he was mainly influenced by his mother, Gertrude, and his sister Casandra. His mother grew up during the "Doo Wop" era in the Bronx. For the first ten or 12 years of his life, he was influenced by his mother's music and got accustomed to rhythm and blues, especially Motown. Seventy-five percent of his musical influence came from the females in the family; in his early teenage years, he was more influenced by his older sister Casandra's music. She introduced him to music from the late '70s and '80s to artists like The Jackson 5, George Clinton, and Parliament/Funkadelic. She and he would often be found dancing and having their own little party. In the mid-'80s, he rebelled and listened to heavy metal and reggae in the early 80s. By the '90s, it was alternative rock. He also enjoyed Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. At 16 years of age, he became involved with electronics and Hi-Fi equipment. He bought his first Hi-Fi component and started to mix his own music. He loved creating and mixing music. He worked for many years at the Perkin Elmer factory and retired to continue his passion for music. Lenny graduated with Honors and received an Associate Degree in Science from the New England Institute of Art of Boston in Audio Engineering/Production in 2015. Lenny was also the primary caregiver for his mother, Gertrude, when she became ill until her passing. He loved her dearly, and she could do no wrong in his eyes. He was a loving son who cared for all her needs and made sure she lacked for nothing. She was his best friend. On April 15, 2001, a bundle of joy came into his life. This precious little bundle was named Lennique Nicole Brandon, his first and only child. He was the best and most loving father that ever existed. She was his little princess, his "Doobie," the nickname he gave her. She became his best friend then became a grandfather in July 2020 to his second bundle of joy in his life, Zuralee Marchando. He called her "Little Doobie." Lenny was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the age of 56. He lived a good and fun life. He will be deeply missed and loved by all who know him. Lenny leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughter Lennique Nicole Brandon, granddaughter Zuralee Rose Marchando, two sisters, Dorothea Marie Latson and Casandra Bernita Littles, a brother, Gregory Scott Brandon, Brother-in-law Robert Littles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. Lenny was preceded in death by his loving Mother, Gertrude Douglas, Father Joseph Link, and Stepdad, William Douglas. We Love You, Lenny, and May You Rest In Eternal Peace!
