Obituary of Gladys Ramona Hogan

Please share a memory of Gladys to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In loving memory of Gladys Ramona Toatley-Hogan born in Columbia, South Carolina on October 18th, 1931, to the parents of John Toatley and Anna Curry-Toatley. Gladys made the transition back to her Lord early Sunday morning, May 22, 2022, in the comfort of her home, just as she wanted. Gladys was married to her late husband, Horton Hogan in 1947. He preceded her in death in 2005. As a newlywed couple they lived in Jersey City, NJ before relocating to Boston, MA in the 1950s. Gladys had five children and is survived by her remaining two daughters, Patricia Ann Hogan, who is her first-born and lived at home with her, and her youngest child, Joyce Maria Hogan-Williams who resides in Washington, DC. Sadly, Gladys was preceded in death by her three sons: Curtis, Hayward and David Hogan. She is also survived by a number of loving grandchildren (7), great-grandchildren (13) and great-great grandchildren (8). Gladys worked for the Polaroid Corporation in the early 1970s. Later in life she worked as a Teacher’s Aid for the Boston Public School System and retired in the mid-1990s. Gladys was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories of family gatherings, backyard cookouts and the best all-night card parties! In the words of her youngest daughter, “A Mother's love I will always remember you and neither one of us had the chance to say goodbye. So Goodbye my Gla-Gla Knight, My Queen, My Mother and a Grandmother. You will always be in our hearts, and we will always find ways to remember and honor your love.”
