Obituary of Wayne D Fields

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wayne Fields, age 62, recently suffered a heart attack. He succumbed to the injuries of the heart attack and passed away at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA, on September 5, 2022. Born to Porter and Melvina Fields he was the youngest of 3 children and adored by his mother. Wayne played little league baseball and football as a child. His oldest sister Donna Riley has fond memories of Wayne sleeping in his favorite cowboy boots. She recalls that he loved those boots so much she would have to rip them off his feet and Wayne would cry himself to sleep. Wayne was a happy and fun-loving kid. He attended Northwestern High School in Flint, MI, where he met and fell in love with his wife of 41 years, Linda Fields. Wayne joined the US Army at the age of 17 where he honorably served as a military police officer. After serving several years he settled with his family in Boston, MA. Wayne was trained by his father at an early age to lay cement and loved being a construction laborer. He retired in July of this year after working for Cicconi & Son Construction Company for over 30 years. Wayne took pride in his work and laid thousands of sidewalks in Massachusetts throughout the years. Fondly known for being a “Old G”, Wayne kept it real, loved gangster rap, a good steak and was crazy about his wife. Wayne was a laid back and easy-going person. He loved his wife from the tender age of 17 and was heartbroken when she died a year ago. Wayne was very proud of his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters and would give them the tightest bear hugs. Wayne also loved being an uncle to his nephews Rodney and Shannon, they were the sons that he always wanted. Wayne loved his siblings and likened his older sister Donna as a mother. He enjoyed hanging out with his sister-in-law Annette who lovingly nicknamed him “shotgun.” Wayne shared funny memories of his brother-in-law Roosevelt trying to chase him away from his wife Linda. Wayne also loved his cousin Steve who he likened as a brother, they shared many good times during his life in Flint, MI. We can shed tears that Wayne is gone, or we can smile because he lived. We can close our eyes and pray that he comes back, or we can open our eyes and see the legacy he has left behind. Our hearts can be empty, or they can be full of love because of the love we shared with him. We can remember that he is gone, or we can cherish his memory and let it live on. Today, we celebrate Wayne’s life. He lived the life he wanted. Wayne did things his way and he was happy. He served his country with honor, he spent his life with his high school sweetheart, and he worked and partied hard. For those reasons we can go on in peace knowing that he lived a vibrant life. To cherish his legacy and the many fond memories, Wayne leaves his daughter, Tiffany Majors (Mark) of Maryland; and two grandchildren, Beauty and Cherish. He is also survived by several siblings, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Linda Fields, his parents Porter and Melvina Fields, his brother Porter Fields Jr. and his grandparents Reverend Anderson & Jamia Fields and Samuel and Vinnie Owens.
