Obituary of Fatima Fatiza Lockhart
Please share a memory of Fatima to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fatima Lockhart was born in Boston, MA to Linda Lockhart and Carlton Grady. She attended Ellis Elementary School in Boston and Jackson/Mann School in Allston, until age 12. Fatima then moved to the North Shore, where she attended Breed Middle school in Lynn.
Fatima at age 13 was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes and not long after was diagnosed with significant end stage renal failure. This is where her battle to live and fight began. As an adult Fatima returned back to Boston and achieved her high school diploma through English High School. There Fatima enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking and music. Fatima continued to suffer dealing with her illness that led her to become a double amputee from the knee down. Fatima also suffered strokes and heart attacks during her battle.
Fatima relocated to Beverly, MA to raise her daughter and son and remained in the same house for 30 yrs. Fatima had a strong love for the Lord, she also loved taking pictures, writing and family gatherings. Fatima tried to work different jobs as long as her health permitted, until her battle with this disease became too much to handle.
Fatima was a mother, aunty and years later a grandmother. Being a grandmother was the proudest thing she could’ve imagined. She loved her grandchildren, but sadly she suffered the loss of her granddaughter, Xena Pierre, last year. Fatima’s health started to decline even more, where she could no longer fight this battle. She succumbed to her childhood disease.
Fatima leaves behind two children Alesha Powell Lockhart and Mario Clayton; one grandson Xavier Diaz. Her mother Linda Lockhart, father Carlton Grady and sister Tonika Lockhart, nephews Terrell Greene and London Burton. As well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Thank you for being a part of our lives.
