Obituary of Headie M. Brown

Please share a memory of Headie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Headie Mae Brown was born to the late Robert Brown and Clatie (Powell) Glenn on November 9th, 1943, in Columbia Alabama. Headie graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1963. She moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she met and married William (Willie) Roger Brown Sr. for sixty years. Through this union, they were blessed with five children. Deborah, Maxine, Stephanie (Proceeded by death), Teresa, Willie Jr, and one adopted son Rodney. Under the tutelage of John R. Davis Sr., Headie became a member of the Dorchester Church of Christ on Erie St. Her compassion was singing, and she loved to sing. She was a member of the group called ‘The Christian Charioteers’, where her husband led the group. She was involved in the work of the Lord and the sister’s activities. Headie had a love for children because of this she drove for Stork Transportation (the late Tom Arnold). She also ran her home daycare where she watched many children. She expanded her career and worked for a company named Grove Hall Child Care Development Center for many years. In 1995, Headie moved to West Palm Beach Florida where she continued to further her compassion for children where she worked at the ‘KinderCare’ Daycare. She also worked as a ‘mail carrier’ for the United State Postal Service. While she lived in West Palm Beach, she was under the leadership of the late Minister Jonathan Young where she worshiped at S Avenue. Church of Christ. She stayed faithful under the leadership of Minister Clarence Banks. She was a devoted caretaker to her family and friends, especially her children. She had this big, beautiful smile that lit the room when she walked through those church doors. She was always there to lend a helping hand. Headie was also known for her hospitality. She would always make you feel at home. Headie leaves to cherish lovely memories, her loving husband William (Willie) Brown Sr., and children: Deborah Manago (Edward), Maxine Brown Hollins (Benjamin), Teresa Brown (Christopher Patterson), all of Boston Massachusetts, Willie Brown Jr, West Palm Beach Florida, Rodney Brown (Boston Massachusetts). Her brothers: Wesley Powell (Mammie) Orlando, Florida. Eddie Brown (Diane) Altamonte Springs, Florida; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
