Obituary of Jack Gomes

Jack Gomes, known by those he loved most as “Uncle Jack”, was a man built with spunk and a kind soul. Jack was the firstborn son to hardworking Cape Verdean parents, Angela Gomes and Joao Gomes born on April 24th, 1963. Within the family, Jack was a loyal brother, a protector of his sisters, and the most loving uncle. During this life, Jack overcame many trials and tribulations. Jack grew up in Roxbury and graduated from East Boston High School. He proudly stayed local to his Roxbury neighborhood all his life. Prior to chronic illness, Jack worked as a custodial worker for the Boston Public Schools. Jack knew people of all walks of life - he befriended others genuinely regardless of income, status, or race. Throughout his life, Jack loved a good time - at cookouts, weddings, birthdays, and just casual days watching his beloved Boston teams game Jack was filled with jokes, laughter, and always the best dance moves. He had a reputation for remembering every holiday and everyone’s birthday. Family came first to Jack. His nieces and nephews had a place in his heart like no one else. He was a loving and caring uncle who always called to say, “just making sure everything’s okay.” Uncle Jack will be deeply missed by the family and many friends he leaves behind. In honor of his passing, we ask that you remember his resilience, sense of humor, and pure heart.
