To the Family of Pastor Cloy, I met Pastor Cloy many years ago at the New England Annual Conference at St. Paul, Cambridge. Down through the years, he would always remember me by name. He would always sit with me and share with me his desire to serve as a pastor up here as his wife was working on here degree in Boston and how his son was in school in the Boston area. Many years later I realized that it was his wife, Cherita, who presented a workshop on going to college at our church, Mt. Zion AME Church in Newport, RI. Thank you Rev. Cloy for being a caring and sharing person and sharing your wife with our congregation and community. It was an encouraging time for us in Rhode Island knowing that you were nearby during the time you served as pastor of Bethel AME in New Bedford, Massachusetts. I personally will miss you and supportive conversations in which we were constantly engaged wherever you were. Thank you Rev. Cloy. Sleep on my brother from Rev. Alvin T. Riley, Jr., Pastor Rev. My heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy goes out to Pastor Cloy family. I pray for comfort during this difficult time. I met Pastor Cloy when he was the pastor at Greater Mt. Carmel AME church in Tampa, FL. It was a honor to have known him. His friendship and kindness will always remain in my family hearts. He will truly will be sadly missed. Rest in peace Pastor Cloy. Q: What was Charles really good at? A: Rev. Cloy, if he really believed in something he would fight to the end. A lot of people didn’t understand this brother, but he smiled through it all.
