I went to grade school with Sun, and we stay friends to this day more than 30 years. When I first met Sun he was with another kid Mendez and I guess I was in the spot they played at. Sun let me know that was his spot. He was trying to be cool but was obvious he wasn't a tough guy. I told him and Mendez I should be in the group and they asked why and then I busted out the HeMan action figures. Haha. They spoke privately at the second secret spot and allowed me in after making me promise I would add no more members to the group. I broke that the next day but it lead to us being buddies still. I remember going from watching he man at Mendez house with him to years later taking in the first Roots concert in Boston, when he still had dreads. Sun was just that, always bright while being humble and relaxed. He was a true friend.

First and foremost, I would like to share my deepest, heartfelt condolences to Jason’s family and loved ones. I wish you healing and peace.
When I think about Jason, I think about how funny and he was. At every get together, he was sure to have everyone around him in stitches after one of his stories and/or quick, slick comebacks. On his birthday, I laughed from the time I picked him up until the time I dropped him off. And even though it was his day, he asked me to stopped to try and find a fresh pineapple for a friend with bad allergies. He said that he heard fresh pineapples helped those with allergies. See, not only funny, but kind!
It was such an honor to not only share that moment with Jason, but have the opportunity to know him. I will always remember his humor, passion for music, kind heart, and, of course, smile.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
