Obituary of Jason Sundiata Branch Fair

Please share a memory of Jason to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jason Sundiata Branch Fair was born on June 15, 1977 to Rev. Dr. Ernest Branch Sr. & the late Janet Frances Pope Fair in Boston, MA. Jason was a part of a large blended family. Being one of ten brothers and sisters, Jason found himself bonding with each one in a different way, with his center being his loving mother, whom he cherished dearly. His mother knew he was here for a reason. He was her “Miracle Baby” and she was his “Everything”.

As a child, Jason was a very inquisitive young man, a quality that would later shine in his intelligence and wit.

Jason’s mother instilled the importance of education in both of her children. He attended private schools through his formative years and graduated from Cathedral of the Holy Cross in 1995. He continued his education, as he studied at Bunker Hill Community College and went on to pursue his passion within the Arts.

Jason loved all forms of art, it motivated him to delve deeper and educate himself. By attending the New England Institute of Arts, he was able to pursue a degree in Multimedia. Arts, entertainment, music and dancing were ways that Jason was able to express himself and provoke Joy in others.

Jason had an eclectic soul that found peace within the mixing of the common beats, tracks and vibrations. Jason was a well known Disc Jockey and Hip Hop Consultant within the Boston area, known to many as D.J. Sun One. He established a legacy that will live on, regardless of his time on earth; many will carry memories and even “tracks”, that signified his purpose in their lives.

Whether through his Smile, while working at Fenway Park or in his charismatic way of moving the crowd at The Machine Nightclub. Even the simple act of cooking for others, brought him joy. Jason enjoyed making others happy through his actions.

Jason was a strong part of his community, a value instilled early in life, through examples of community empowerment & advocacy, lead by his parents. Being one that was spiritual, Jason knew that God wanted everyone to experience His Grace and Mercy.

Jason leaves to cherish in his memory: his father, Rev. Dr. Ernest Branch, Sr.; his siblings: Danielle D. Fair, Ernest Branch Jr., Jerome Farley Branch, Leroy David Branch, Cynthia Rene Branch, Thaddeus Nathaniel Kerrin, King Mansa Musa Branch, Tamara Brown, Marcus Ernest Legere Branch, and Hezekia Joshua Branch. He also leaves his Aunts, Barbara Van Brakle, & Gloria Gray, additionally an uncle, Richard Pope.

Jason didn’t take his relationships with his Nieces & Nephews lightly, therefore we know that they will also grieve his loss, along with a host of other Relatives and Friends.

Jason leaves us at peace with a bitter sweet vision of him reuniting with his beloved mother, Janet Frances Pope Fair.

May You Rest In Peace!
