To the family, I have such pleasant memories of Karen. Her gentle spirit, her calm way,
Her sewing talent ( to name a few).
Just know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. May you feel the spirit of the Lord’s comfort upon you! Lovingly. Laura Wilson Mills

We were in shock and our hearts sunk when we received the news of Karen's unexpected passing. We only met her in 2018 but in those four years our lives were made better by the kindness and support we received from Karen will working at the MBTA Railroad Ops in the BET. Karen was the first person we would go to see when we arrived in Boston at the BET. She was the glue that helped keep everything running. Need a screwdriver, band-aid, charge cord, notepad, keys to the lab, label maker, safety glasses? She had them. Need a smile or encouraging word for the day? She gave them. Karen was busy but made time to make you feel important when she talked to you. She always made time to ask how we were doing. Karen spoke often of her love for her family and the annual trips for her Sorority. Proud to take a backseat to getting recognition, she was a staunch supporter of helping others succeed. More than what she did for our company in business was the unwavering friendship that she freely gave. The world is full of give and takes but very few give all it takes. Karen gave all! Go rest high on that mountain. Gone too soon.

My beloved METCO sister Karen Royston whom I met in fourth grade at Willard Scool in Concord, MA. We spent many weekends together in both Concord and Roxbury. We had so much fun, dancing and singing, staying up telling stories and getting to know each other's relatives!
From elementary, middle and high school we never passed each other without a friendly greeting! After high school we lost touch but I was so glad to find you again on Facebook decades later and share how our lives went and fond memories of our childhood days when innocence ruled!
Little did I know that our last meeting at Miss Kizzy's near your work would be the last time we'd see each other.
We had a delicious lunch, pitcher of something and walked down the way for delicious ice cream. We promised to see each other again and tried last summer when I was on the North Shore with my ailing mother but it just didn't happen.
We'd made plans for you to come to the USVI where I live but COVID and health took precedence. I will surely miss my sweet soul sister. You truly enriched my life and you remembered so many funny things, we had so much fun that afternoon!
My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family circle. We need Karen, but God obviously needed her more.
Love alone,
Always, until we meet again,
Sister Nancy (Anna)
